We had been invited yesterday to a free lunch and drinks! The Leatherne Bottel, Goring opens tomorrow as "Rossini" at The Leathern Bottel.
So we had short walk at Goring first to see if there were any good photo opportunities. A mixed bag which is good. So here is what caught my eye along the way.
We parked just next to the cricket ground at about 1.26pm, where they were just warming up |
It was quite breezy, so really difficult to capture the butterflies. This plant Centranthus Rubra was COVERED in them! |
Down to the village just a few minutes walk. Loved the clock tower. |
Just opposite the clock tower, some beautiful gothic style windrows....... |
.... with matching doorway just around a corner. |
Now arriving at the river |
The old Goring Mill, with a fabulous mossy roof... |
....and a door which has not been used for a while! |
A good day for watching the world, and photographers go by! |
A bit cool for ice cream though |
The ice cream seller trying to keep herself amused |
now at Goring Lock, and a wonderful garden display of Rudbekia Goldsturm |
and here comes the gardener |
it was pretty breezy at times |
a barge arriving hoping to tie up. Fortunately one boat just about to move....... |
.... once they get everyone back on board. 1, 2, 3.... |
....made it! Although seconds later he had jumped off again! |
Almost back at the car and cricket livening up. |
and finally a short drive to our free lunch at Rossini's, where we saw some of the same boats heading on upstream. |
Lovely food in a fabulous setting. Must go back soon. |
Great blog and great photos if all taken in an hour. They tell a story as a whole and individually - it must be your film making that is guiding you!
ReplyDeletegreat blog and photos Anne, I must admit I do not know the Goring end of Reading well, so its an idea for a walk another day - thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary. It's not that far away and well worth a visit.
