Lacock Abbey & Village, and sundown at Avebury

A bright crisp day, and enroute back from Wales, spent a couple of hours this afternoon looking around Lacock Abbey and Village, Nr Chippenham in Wiltshire. A beautiful unspoilt 13th century village, often used for TV productions such as Cranford, Pride and Prejudice and Harry Potter to name a few.

The Abbey

An interesting "Apple" tree in the Abbey grounds. (For attracting birds)

Christmas Garlands hang in the Cloisters

The rear view, and lovely light in the windows of the tower
Into the Village, and a look at the Church.

Light streaming in and reflecting on the walls

Through the village, and a very unusual Ford, more like a wet lane. Not ideal for cars but fun for welly clad visitors and dog walkers.

Lunch at The Bakery

Then decided to go on  to Avebury Circle, in the hope of decent afternoon light. Being a holiday, it was heaving at Avebury with families all running around. Not ideal for photography! Looking east towards the circle as we approached from a carpark, a boring blue sky.....

But THEN looking west  ........some pinky skies

Which got better and better.....

Some strange stone hugging people appearing from the tree clump

With the road crossing between the two main sites, always difficult to get a shot without a van or a car in it. Several attempts at this next one to manage without cars on the road.
